"So, how did you get into Glass?"
From a young age, I always had the drive to create, and as soon as able, I applied to the Columbus College of Art and Design to pursue this passion. I originally began majoring in animation but quickly realized how much I disliked sitting at a desk all day. Instead, I switched majors to illustration and happened to take an elective Intro to glass course that semester. I didn't realize it at the time, but after that brief exposure, I was fascinated and entirely hooked on glass as a medium.
There was a semester between that first intro class and what would be my focus for the next 8 years. While I was working on an illustration in class... all I could think about was the glass studio. "I wonder what they are making down there." I couldn't focus on anything else other than the glass. I missed it. So instead of fighting it, I decided to pursue glass seriously and changed my major for the final time.
After college, I have worked primarily in glass production for various studios and independent artists and overseeing studios and teaching classes; including places such as The Little Black Pearl Academy for the Arts, The Chrysler Museum of Art, and the Goggleworks Center for the Arts. Currently, I am pursuing the creation and growth of my own business.
